Modafinil is one of the most popular cognitive enhancement medications in the world.

It’s similar in effect to amphetamines (Dexedrine and Adderall), or methylphenidate (Ritalin), but with much fewer side effects.

Modalert is a generic version of modafinil.

It’s priced significantly cheaper than the brand name version, Provigil, without sacrificing quality. This has made Modalert highly popular in the modafinil community.

Here is an in-depth guide to Modalert. How to use it; what it’s benefits are; and how it compares to other cognitive enhancers on the market.

What Is Modalert?

Modalert is a generic version of modafinil made by the pharmaceutical giant, Sun Pharmaceuticals.

It comes in 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg sizes, though most vendors sell the 200 mg version only. Each capsule comes with a convenient crease down the middle, so users can easily separate their 200 mg tablets into two equal 100 mg doses if they want a smaller dose.

Modalert is prescribed for treating ADD/ADHD and narcolepsy by doctors. Outside of its prescribed uses, Modalert is popular as a cognitive enhancement supplement. It’s also used by the US military to help their special forces stay awake during long missions.

Students often take Modalert to improve their focus during study sessions. Business executives use it to power through exhausting projects, and gamers use it during competitions to increase their vigilance and reaction times.

Where To Buy Modalert

There are many vendors selling modafinil online — some are excellent, others not.

Some vendors like Afinil Express offer free shipping, and guaranteed deliveries to the United States, UK, and Australia. They also offer a 10% discount to returning customers, and an additional 20% discount for orders purchased with Bitcoin.

Most vendors will sell generic versions of modafinil such as

Should you decide to order from Afinil Express, be sure to use our discount code MODAFINILOTC to save 10% on your entire order.

Is Modalert Legal?

All forms of modafinil are considered prescription-only medications in the United States, AustraliaCanada, and most of Europe.

Modalert can be purchased online through vendors operating in places where the sale of modafinil is open to the public—most commonly, India.

How Much Does Modalert Cost?

The main difference between the brand name modafinil (Provigil®) and Sun Pharmaceuticals generic version (Modalert) is the price.

Chemically, Modalert is the same as brand name modafinil, Provigil®.

In the past, the only option available to people prescribed modafinil was Cephalon Inc’s expensive Provigil®, often costing around $51 per tablet.

In recent years, thanks to the convenience and accessibility of the internet, Modalert (Sun Pharmaceuticals) can be bought with or without a prescription at the low cost of $0.98-$2.80 USD per tablet.

Ordering Modalert Online

When buying Modalert online, it’s important to find a vendor that will ship to your country. In some parts of the world, such as Japan, Russia, or China, modafinil is strictly prohibited, and therefore most vendors won’t ship to these regions.

In places like the United States, The UK, Finland, Australia, or Sweden, most online vendors will guarantee the arrival of their customers’ order.

Occasionally, border security officers will confiscate a package, however, since the drug isn’t illegal to own, no further action will result.

High-quality modafinil vendors will offer refunds on orders confiscated at the border, or they will simply re-ship the same order a second time.

Though inconvenient, most people rarely experience any issues receiving their orders.

Some countries, such as Canada, are notorious for their attention to incoming mail, and often confiscate orders of Modalert before they reach their final destination. For this reason, many modafinil vendors won’t ship to Canada.

The Benefits of Modalert

Modalert, like all modafinil, is considered a wakefulness-promoting and cognitive enhancing agent. It targets specific regions of the brain that are responsible for making us feel alert.

These effects are beneficial to a large range of people. Modafinil is popular among students, artists, writers, fighter pilots, shift workers, and virtually anybody who needs to stay awake to finish a tough project or tedious task.

The Benefits of Modalert Include:

  • Improved focus and concentration
  • Increased energy levels
  • Eliminates mental fatigue for several hours
  • Improves the ability to perform tedious or repetitive tasks
  • Increases motivation to work or study

How Modalert Works

Medications often work by binding to specific receptors in the body. The body uses different types of receptors to tell the cells what to do.

Modalert works on a special set of receptors called “dopamine transport receptors”

These receptors tell the neurons how much dopamine they should reabsorb (thus reducing the concentrations of dopamine). When Modalert enters the body, it blocks these receptors, preventing the reabsorption of dopamine. As less dopamine is reabsorbed into the cell, it begins to build up outside of the cell.

Cocaine uses the same mechanism to exert its effects, though to a much stronger degree. If we could imagine a dial in the brain controlling wakefulness, modafinil is about a 6, while cocaine is so powerful whole dial breaks off.

There are also several other mechanisms Modalert uses to boost cognitive function and wakefulness that make it very different than cocaine.

Modalert also increases histamine, orexin, and norepinephrine in the brain. These chemicals are used to regulate the arousal portion of the sleep-wake cycle. [1-3].

The conditions modafinil is prescribed for involve deficiencies in one or more of these neurotransmitters. ADD/ADHD sufferers often have below-average dopamine levels, and narcolepsy sufferers have low orexin.

How Much Does Modalert Cost?

Compared to other versions of modafinil, Modalert is slightly more expensive on average.

Places like Afinil Express offer different quantities of Modalert. Higher quantities come with more cost savings per pill.

The smallest order, which comes with 50 tablets, is priced at $2.80 per tablet. The highest quantity, 500 tablets, costs only $0.98 per tablet.

Afinilexpress.com offers free shipping, and a 20% discount if payment is made with Bitcoin. Additionally, a 10% discount is given to all returning customers.

Using our discount code: MODAFINILOTC at checkout saves you an additional 10% off your order.

These discounts bring the cost of Modalert down as low as $0.68 USD per tablet of Modalert.

How Much Modalert Should I Take?

The recommended dose for Modalert is 200 mg, though some prefer to cut the tablets in half and take 100 mg doses (better for sensitive individuals or long-term use). Other people choose to double down and take 400 mg doses (suited for larger people, or single doses every now and then).

Although Modalert is considered safe, it’s recommended that users follow the directions on the packaging to avoid overdose.

Does Modalert Have Side Effects?

Just like any other medication, there are side effects with the use of Modalert.

In general, side effects are rare and usually not severe. If side effects are encountered when using Modalert, users can often reduce the dose to avoid further problems.

  • COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

The most common side effects include:

    • Stomach upset or discomfort (most common)
    • Rashes (rare but can be severe)
    • Headaches
    • Nausea
    • Anxiety
    • Insomnia
    • Dizziness
  • SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS

In rare cases, more serious side effects can result. These can include:

    • Skin rashes and blistering
    • Easy bruising or bleeding
    • Chest pain
    • Depression
    • Fast heartbeat
    • Hallucinations
    • Steven Johnson Syndrome (A rare and serious disorder of the mucous membranes)

Modalert vs Modvigil vs Provigil®

There are other versions of modafinil as well, including the HAB Pharmaceuticals generic version (Modvigil), as well as the brand name version (Provigil) by Cephalon Inc.

From a chemical standpoint, there are few differences between these drugs. They often come in the same 200 mg dose and use similar fillers and binders (used to help the tablets stay formed or avoid clogging the machines used to make it).

The major difference between these products is the price.

Modvigil is the cheapest option, coming in at around $0.80–$2.10 per capsule on AfinilExpress.com (depending on how much you order at a time). Modalert is the next in line, with a small increase in price to $0.98–$2.80 per tablet.

Provigil®, on the other hand, is very expensive. It costs an average of $51 for the same 200 mg tablet.

Why is Provigil® so expensive?

The steep price tag comes with being a brand name product.

This practice is as common in the drug industry as it is in other industries like clothing or cars. Some brands offer their goods at significantly higher prices simply based on the name.

When you compare the effects of these drugs, most users report a slightly stronger effect from Provigil®, followed by Modalert, and finally, Modvigil.

This is purely subjective, however, and could be the result of the placebo effect due to the price differences.

All three of these modafinil versions produce noticeable effects on cognition, and all three are used for the same purposes.

Is Modalert Addictive?

As we’ve discussed, modafinil binds to the same receptors as the illicit and highly addictive substance, cocaine.

Cocaine was rated the second most addictive substance in the world by Medical News Today.

This has lead many to believe that Modafinil is also highly addictive.

On top of this, modafinil is included as a schedule IV substance in the United States. This implies that despite medical benefits to the drug, it has addictive potential.

Although it’s easy to believe that modafinil is addictive based on these facts, this isn’t what the scientific literature is saying.

One study involving 105 people taking between 250 and 300 mg of modafinil per day found no evidence of tolerance formation throughout the study [4]. Researchers even concluded that the drug was a suitable candidate for psychological treatment without the risk of mood changes, tolerance, or abuse of the medication.

Another study investigated the potential for using modafinil as a treatment for cocaine addiction because it’s been shown to “blunt cocaine-induced euphoria” to reduce its potential for addiction [6].

Although modafinil is classified as an addictive compound by the US federal government, there is little evidence to suggest this is true for most people.

Can Modalert Increase IQ?

Everybody loves the idea of a drug that can make us more intelligent, as seen in movies like Limitless or Lucy. Do these drugs exist? Can modafinil give us superintelligence?

The unfortunate truth is that these drugs simply don’t exist.

Although modafinil and other nootropics can make us solve problems faster, remember things longer, and exert ourselves mentally for longer before we reach exhaustion, they don’t have any impact on our IQ.

Modalert can be used as a way to optimize the brain by allowing us to focus more intently on a specific task. We can increase productivity and our ability to focus.

When we apply this to studying, we can grow our understanding of a topic faster (though still organically) by making our study hours more efficient.

Conclusion

Modalert is the generic version of modafinil made by the Indian-based company Sun Pharmaceuticals.

Compared to the other main generic option available, Modvigil, it’s slightly more expensive but produces slightly stronger effects overall.

Modalert is great for those looking for a cognitive stimulant with a mild kick, but not as strong as Adderall or Ritalin. It’s great for students looking to boost their efforts while studying, for writers or artists trying to get through a creative block, or business owners managing heavy workloads that keep them working until early hours of the night.

The popularity of modafinil exploded after it was discovered that this narcolepsy medication could be used to boost workflow and productivity.

Soon after a patent issued to Cephalon Inc. for modafinil expired, other companies took to the scene to produce their own generic version of this blockbuster medication.

Modaheal joined the market just recently in 2017.

Some believe this generic version is just a rebrand of another generic medication Vilafinil, though we were unable to confirm or debunk this theory.

Here we discuss what Modaheal is, what people are saying about it, and how it’s different from other generic modafinil available on the market. We also discuss some of the places you can use to get modafinil delivered straight to your door.

What is Modaheal?

Modaheal is a generic version of modafinil made by the company Healing Pharma, based out of Mumbai, India.

It’s made in the same 200 mg doses as many other modafinil products but is also offered in a separate 100 mg dose.

It’s marketed primarily for its eugeroic effects (wakefulness promoting).

Who is Healing Pharma?

The manufacturer, Healing Pharma is relatively new— founded only in 2017.

The company’s mission statement is to manufacture and market all segments of generic drugs at an affordable cost.

So far, they’re staying true to their vision, with an impressive and diverse portfolio of generic drugs available.

Product Categories Sold byHealing Pharma:

  • Antibiotics
  • Anti Smoking medications
  • Dermatitis medications
  • Men’s health products
  • Painkillers
  • Antifungals
  • Antivirals
  • Hair removal products
  • Neurological disorders
  • Psychotropics
  • Weight loss medications
  • Antimigraine remedies
  • Hypertension medications
  • Health drinks
  • Oral care products
  • Women’s health products
  • Skincare products

There’s a curious section on their website listing products in a category they call “strong health.” Under this section, products are range from vitamin D and K to COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitors (like Aspirin).

We’re not sure the connection here and presume there’s an English translation error.

It seems this company has been doing a lot in the past year since they’ve been in business to widen their product lineup.

Is Modaheal Good Quality?

On the Healing Pharma website, they list quality control as one of their core values.

This sounds great on paper, but do they really follow through with the promise of providing the highest quality modafinil products at the most affordable prices?

On Their About us Page, They Give us Their Mission Statement:

Mission: Is to harness the possibility engendered by Government of India & Indian Medical Association initiative in regulating Drug prices through making it mandatory for the prescribing Healthcare professional to prescribe Generic name along with its Brand and more particularly the drugs/medicines covered under the DPCO so that it is manufactured at low cost from SME sector to contain the spurt in Prices of the Branded Generic and to make the same formulations affordable to common people.”

Yes, that’s one sentence.

Such a poor quality mission statement makes you wonder what their philosophy on quality control really is, and how it applies to the products they’re manufacturing. Lucky for us, there’s a whole section about quality on the company website.

Their opening statement is full of garbled statements on quality. Nearly every page is full of this type of description.

Although the company is based out of India, it certainly wouldn’t take much to hire a native English speaker to edit the website to ensure quality sentences are used.

Although the quality of their website proves little about the quality of their products, it’s certainly ironic— and a tad awkward — to have so many poor quality sentences describing their quality control process.

If their philosophy on quality was applied to all levels of their organization, we certainly wouldn’t be having this discussion.

How Much Does Modaheal Cost & Where Can I Buy It?

There are a few websites currently selling Modaheal online — each with slightly different pricing.

Modabits — a popular online source for modafinil — lists the price at $37 USD for 40 pills, or $154 for 300 pills (Bitcoin payments only). This puts the price per 200 mg tablet between $0.51 and $0.92 USD.

Compared to other generic versions of modafinil, this is definitely on the cheaper side of things— or is it?

Afinil Express is another popular source for generic modafinil online. They list Modalert at $0.98–$2.80 per tablet (depending on the size of the order), and Modvigil at $0.80–$2.10.

This is clearly more expensive until you take into consideration the payment methods and discount options.

Modabits only accepts Bitcoin, while Afinil Express accepts both Bitcoin and credit cards.

Accepting credit cards increases the price because it’s difficult for companies selling pharmaceuticals online to be able to process credit card transactions — the companies that do will have to pay high transaction fees to credit card companies.

This is why most modafinil resellers only accept payment via cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

To make up for this, AfinilExpress.com offers a 20% discount on any of their products when payment is made with Bitcoin (since they won’t need to pay the high credit card processing fee).

This would bring the cost of Modalert and Modvigil to $0.78–$2.24 and $0.64–$1.68 respectively. This is much more on par with the price, but still slightly more expensive unless 300 capsules are ordered at a time.

If you use the code MODAFINILOTC at checkout you can get another 10% off your order — bringing the cost of modafinil as low as 70 cents per tablet which is extremely cheap for a pharmaceutical-grade medication.

Vilafinil & Modaheal the Same: Modafinil Conspiracy?

There have been some questions lately about whether or not Modaheal is actually just rebranded Vilafinil.

Some users on Reddit have reported that the back of some Modaheal packaging lists Centurion Laboratories, but we were unable to confirm this on the packaging we ordered.

Further digging finds some connections between Healing Pharma and a company called Sava Global.

This is an umbrella company connected to other large pharmaceutical brands like Sun Pharma and INTAS. It’s not clear how close of a connection this group has with these companies.

How Does Modaheal Compare to Other Generic Modafinil?

In our experience, Modaheal is moderate-strength generic modafinil, comparable to Modvigil and Vilafinil. There isn’t anything special about this form of modafinil, as it has the same effect profile and duration as many of the other generic brands available.

The price point isn’t much cheaper either— if at all— compared to others in its class, especially if you leverage the available discounts like paying with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

Conclusion

Modaheal is a generic version of the ADD/ADHD and narcolepsy medication modafinil.

It’s made by a new company called Healing Pharma based out of India.

The product is new to the market, and there aren’t many reviews on the product yet; however, in our experience, it’s of comparable strength to Vilafinil and Modvigil and is slightly weaker than Provigil® and Modalert.

The company preaches quality control, and although this may be true, we have yet to find any convincing evidence of this philosophy being taken into practice. This is based on the lack of editorial efforts put into their own public website for starters.

We recommend sticking with some of the more tried and true modafinil generics to avoid any potential issues with poor quality or contaminated medications. Modalert and Modvigil remain some of the most popular versions of generic modafinil, and for good reason.

You can find both of these modafinil products at AfinilExpress.com.

There are now over 20 different generic versions of modafinil worldwide. Most of them are very similar to the original brand name version, Provigil®.

In fact, they need to be to qualify as a generic medication.

Despite these rules, generic versions of modafinil often have very different strengths, duration of effects, and overall quality from each other.

One of the newest additions to the generic modafinil world is Modafresh. These tiny, unmarked pills are so new there are almost no user reviews, and even large nootropic blogs don’t have a post on Modafresh online.

Here, we discuss what we know about Modafresh, investigate the company that manufactures it, and discuss alternative options for sourcing modafinil online.

What is Modafresh?

Modafresh is a newer generic version of modafinil to the market. They come as unmarked, round tablets, containing 100 mg or 200 mg doses of the active constituents, D- and L-modafinil (more commonly referred to as S- and R- modafinil).

In order for a medication to classify as a generic medication, Modafresh must contain the same doses as the original and in the same form. The only thing that tends to change is the types and amounts of fillers used in the manufacturing process.

Therefore, the effect profile of Modafresh should be the same as the brand name version, Provigil® by Cephalon Inc.

The Effect Profile of Modafresh

User reviews on this generic drug are hard to find. This is likely because it’s so new to the market.

Most online reviews that we were able to find (there aren’t many at all and most are not reputable review sources) suggest it’s similar to Modvigil in strength.

Modafresh is on the weaker side of the spectrum compared to other popular options like Modalert or armodafinil generics like Artvigil and Waklert.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, many users like this Reddit user prefer Modvigil and Modafresh. Everyone reacts differently to modafinil, and some find the lower intensity options more effective.

The Benefits of Modafresh

Modafinil is prescribed by doctors for treating sleeping conditions like narcolepsy (a condition that causes those affected to go from a waking state to deep sleep suddenly), sleep apnea, excessive fatigue, or side effects of shift work.

Doctors also prescribe modafinil for people suffering from ADD/ADHD due to its ability to improve concentration and focus.

Outside of this prescribed use, modafinil is used to improve productivity at work or school. It’s especially useful for long, enduring periods of work, or while performing repetitive tasks.

It essentially forces the user into an alerted, wakeful flow state.

It’s even been described in the New York Times as a “nap in a pill” for its ability to restore wakefulness.

The Problem with Buying Modafinil

Most countries categorize modafinil as “prescription only” (schedule 4). This makes it difficult for people not suffering from the conditions outlined above to gain the benefits modafinil has to offer.

In addition, many pharmacies only stock Provigil®, which can cost users as much as $1500 per month for a subscription.

The solution to both of these problems is to buy these medications online.

Online resellers offer prescription-free modafinil at a fraction of the cost — ranging from 80 cents to about $3 per tablet depending on the type of modafinil you buy, and the source.

Who Makes Modafresh? Are They Reputable?

Modafresh is made by the American pharmaceutical company, Sunrise Pharmaceuticals.

They specialize in ANDA category (generic) medications and contract manufacturing. They are very similar in their structure to another popular generic manufacturer, HAB Pharmaceuticals.

HAB Pharma is especially well known in the modafinil space for their Modvigil and Modawake versions of modafinil, as well as Artvigil, and R-Modawake versions of armodafinil.

Sunrise pharmaceuticals are relatively new to the scene.

Their website shows that their first generic medication was approved back in 2014, and launched in 2015. HAB Pharma boasts a robust pipeline of future generic drugs are on the horizon in the near future.

Bloomberg lists Sunrise Pharmaceuticals as a Privately held company. Other generic modafinil products, like Modalert by Sun Pharmaceuticals are manufactured by publicly held corporations.

This may seem like a subtle difference, but there is an important distinction between these two classifications of companies when shopping for generic medications.

The Difference Between Private & Public Drug Companies

The main difference between the two types of companies involves how the companies stocks (shares) are distributed.

A private company has a relatively small number of shareholders and doesn’t offer trade in its stock (shares) to the general public. Stocks are generally purchased through the stock market and serve as fractional ownership of the company. However, private companies stocks are exchanged privately.

A public company is a company with publicly traded stock options that can be purchased through the stock market. It’s referred to as public because ownership is distributed amongst the general public through ownership of these stocks.

Being privately traded doesn’t necessarily mean the company is small. Some of the largest companies in the world are privately listed.

Lego, Ernst & Young, IKEA, and Rolex are all examples of large privately listed companies.

The Downsides of Private Companies

There are some obvious and some less apparent downsides to privately traded companies as a consumer. As a consumer of modafinil from these companies, it’s important to understand what these downsides may be to determine if you should buy their products or not.

1. They Often Have Poor Transparency

Private companies don’t need to disclose much information to the public. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it makes it easier to hide information from their customers. When it comes to pharmaceutical companies producing psychoactive drugs like Modafresh, it’s vital that the company is transparent and trustworthy.

Due to the shared ownership of Public companies, they tend to offer much better transparency.

Media and financial analysts have access to much more information about the company.

They’re legally bound to provide this type of information, which includes information not volunteered by public companies like yearly and quarterly profits.

For example, you can view Sun Pharmaceuticals revenue history publicly on their website.

2. They Lack Vested Interest from the Public

Companies with public ownership tend to be more popular due to the role they play in public investor portfolios.

The ability to acquire partial ownership of these companies by many different people generally improves the interest in the companies’ success among the public. Support for these companies also tends to increase as a result of this shared ownership.

3. They Tend to Be Much Smaller than Publicly Held Companies

As of 2017, the largest privately held pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, was ranked number 17 on the list of the wealthiest pharmaceutical companies by revenue. The 16 above it are all publicly held companies.

Most private pharmaceutical companies are small compared to their public counterparts.

4. Less Regulation Involved with Manufacturing

This is without a doubt the most relevant when it comes to modafinil manufacturers.

Publicly held companies are subject to a much greater level of scrutiny when it comes to manufacturing pharmaceuticals due to their transparent nature.

Any public breaches in quality, manufacturing, or management in these companies would cause headaches for investors. This gives extra incentive for public companies to remain ethical.

Privately held companies can get away with a lot more concerning negative press or quality control issues.

This is not ideal when the drugs they produce act directly on the sensitive tissues of the brain.

What This Means for Modafinil Users

When it comes to something as sensitive as pharmaceutical medications, we much prefer to purchase from companies with widespread ownership, have highly scrutinized quality control and manufacturing regulations, and legal obligations to provide transparency.

It’s also beneficial to be larger in size. This offers better access to top scientists, researchers, and subsidiary research and testing companies that contribute to better quality drugs.

Modafresh has none of this going for it.

Final Thoughts on Modafresh

Modafresh is a newer generic version of modafinil to join the market.

Although there aren’t many reviews, the majority of user reviews on websites like LongeCity or Reddit suggest its effect profile is closer to Modvigil.

This suggests it’s slightly less intense than the 200 mg Modalert.

The company that manufactures Modafresh, Sunrise Pharmaceuticals has only recently stepped into the generic medications industry. They’re a smaller, privately held pharmaceutical company, which comes with a handful of downsides.

These types of companies generally lack transparency, resources, and quality control standards inherent to public companies like Sun Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Teva, INTAS, Bayer, or Sanofi.

We’ll stick with Modalert and Modvigil for now for these reasons.

Modafresh Alternatives

Due to the lack of information on the effects and quality of Modafresh, we recommend going with one of the more well-known options on the market.

Both Modalert and Modvigil are popular around the world. They’re well tested and have great efficacy.

For those looking for generic modafinil with the strongest effects, we recommend Modalert. For something slightly milder, we recommend either taking a half dose of Modalert or going with Modvigil.

If you’re looking for something as strong as possible, we recommend armodafinil, instead of modafinil. Products like Waklert or Artvigil are the best armodafinil generics. They generally have a higher potency than modafinil, even in the relatively smaller 150 mg dose.

Modafil MD is a generic version of Provigil®. It’s made by the Indian pharmaceutical giant, INTAS Biopharmaceuticals.

INTAS makes a number of name-brand medications but has been gradually acquiring other generic medication manufacturers, like Actavis UK and Actavis Ireland from Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Modafil MD comes in two doses, 100 mg, and 200 mg. The 200 mg is the most common form carried by online suppliers.

This brand is quickly becoming a popular modafinil medication due to its unique administration method (more below).

What are the Benefits of Modafil MD?

Modafil MD is similar to other generic versions of modafinil in its effect profile, but has the benefits of faster absorption and therefore faster onset of effects.

Modafil MD is prescribed for sleep disorders like narcolepsy, extreme fatigue, shift work sleep disorder, sleep apnoea, and ADD/ADHD.

It’s used outside its prescribed uses for promoting concentration and productivity. It works primarily by increasing wakefulness and alertness for several hours.

It increases dopamine and norepinephrine concentrations in the brain, making it useful for boosting creativity and focus.

Are There Side Effects to Modafil MD?

As with any medication, there are some common side effects associated with its use.

Side Effects of Modafil MD May Include:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Nervousness
  • Anxiety
  • Dizziness
  • Vision disturbances
  • Heart palpitations
  • Confusion
  • Constipation
  • Insomnia
  • Abdominal pain
  • Irritability
  • Dyspepsia
  • Suicidal or depressive thoughts
  • Tachycardia (Fast heartbeat)
  • Poor appetite
  • Diarrhea

What Makes Modafil MD Different From Other Modafinil Options?

Most modafinil comes in 200 mg tablets, with some manufacturers offering 100 mg versions as well. These are meant to be taken once daily in the morning or at the start of a shift.

These pills are absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract after about 30 minutes, and begin to enter the bloodstream where they go on to exert their effects.

Modafil MD can be used in the same way, but can also be absorbed sublingually (under the tongue).

What are the Benefits of Sublingual Medications?

Underneath the tongue, you’ll find tiny blood vessels called capillaries.

These capillaries are located just under the mucous membranes of the mouth, which allow only a short distance of travel directly into the bloodstream.

By holding a medication under the tongue while it absorbs, these chemicals can travel directly into the bloodstream through the mouth.

This results in much faster absorption, and therefore quicker onset of effects.

When taking medications sublingually, the effects are felt as soon as 15 minutes afterward — rather than 45–60 minutes with the traditional oral route.

Not all medications are suitable for a sublingual application. Most other modafinil could be taken this way in theory, but have an awful taste, and special coatings to help it slide down the throat easier that block it from dissolving in the mouth as quickly as Modafil MD.

Modafil MD by INTAS is flavored with mint to eliminate the bad taste and has a thinner coating to allow the drug to begin breaking down as soon as it enters the mouth.

How Sublingual Drug Absorption Works

Taking a drug directly into the bloodstream (either sublingually, rectally, or via IV injections), follows a different path of metabolism than drugs taken via the oral route (AKA swallowing them).

When we swallow medications, they are broken down by the acidic conditions in the stomach, followed by alkaline conditions in the duodenum of the small intestine.

The medications are then exposed to bacteria and enzymes further down in the small intestines that break apart molecules as they pass through the digestive tract.

When modafinil is absorbed in this way, it goes directly to the liver for filtration. This is called “first pass metabolism.”

This first pass metabolism neutralizes some of the medication before it ever gets a chance to exert its effects.

Most of the drug, however, escapes this metabolism and goes on to exert their effects on the body.

When medications enter the bloodstream directly, however, they aren’t exposed to this first pass metabolism. They enter systemic circulation, which can then flow anywhere in the body, some to the brain, some to the limbs, others to internal organs like the liver where they’re eventually metabolized.

This often makes the effects of sublingual absorption stronger and more sudden.

Does Sublingual Modafinil Work?

In 2009, a patent application was filed by a company called Neurohealing Pharmaceuticals.

This patent highlighted the use of modafinil sublingually, suggesting much faster absorption and a shorter duration of its effects [1].

There’s also plenty of anecdotal evidence among those using the drug to say it works.

Some Caveats with Modafil MD Sublingual Absorption

Taking medications this way allows the effects to come on much faster, but can also increase the concentrations of the drug in the bloodstream too quickly. With this comes a faster peak and higher chances of feeling side effects.

It also allows the drug to clear from the system faster.

This makes it a good mode of administration for people who want the benefits of the medication as fast as possible, as strong as possible, and for a shorter duration of time.

It’s like adding a turbo boost to your modafinil dosage.

How to Take Modafil MD Sublingually

For modafinil to absorb through the mucous membrane of the mouth and into the tiny capillaries underneath the tongue, you need to hold the entire pill under the tongue for about 15 minutes.

To make this even more effective, you can crush the pill up in your mouth to increase the surface area, and then hold this under your tongue for 5-10 minutes.

Please be aware that even with the minty flavor INTAS added to Modafil MD, it tastes god-awful (though significantly better than other forms of modafinil).

Modafil MD versus Modalert and Modvigil

The two most popular generic modafinil options available are Sun Pharmaceuticals Modalert and HAB Pharmaceuticals Modvigil. These products are well tested and widely available through online sources like Afinil Express or other online vendors.

How does Modafil MD compare to these popular competitors?

In our experience, Modafil MD is the fastest acting form of modafinil but only lasts for 5-7 hours. The 200 mg dose is a little too intense and can produce a strong wired effect and some nausea. We have yet to try the 100mg option.

Other users on Reddit report similar findings. There appear to be varying opinions about the Minty flavor, some referring to it as “methy,” while others enjoy the artificial spearmint flavor.

Compared to Modalert, the effects of Modafil MD are comparable, but with a slower onset, and longer duration. The peak from Sublingual Modafil MD hits fast, and hard, while the Modalert peak happens gradually over the course of 2–4 hours. This makes it more manageable in terms of side effects.

You can control the onset of effects by eating some food or taking a few moments to relax and breath when the medication starts to take effect.

Compared to Modvigil, Modafil MD is stronger overall in its effects, but again, has a shorter duration.

Cost of Modafil MD

Modafil MD 200 costs USD $1.48 per tablet in orders containing around 60 pills. If larger orders are made, the price reduces to about $0.89 per tablet.

This is about par with other versions of generic modafinil, such as Modalert ($0.98–$2.80), and Modvigil ($0.80-$2.10).

The most economical way to purchase Modafil MD is to buy a large quantity. Three hundred tablets will cost about $269.00. This is nearly a year supply of modafil MD for one person!

Final Thoughts On Modafil MD

Modafil MD by INTAS Biopharmaceuticals is an exciting option for modafinil users looking for the fastest onset of effects, and shorter durations.

The minty flavor, and ability to absorb the medication under the tongue makes it unique from many of the other generic versions available.

The effects of Modafil MD are comparable to Sun Pharmaceuticals Modalert and is slightly stronger than HAB Pharmaceuticals Modvigil.

Modafinil is well-known in the nootropics community these days. It’s used for ADD/ADHD, narcolepsy, and various sleep disturbance disorders.

Off-label use often leverages the wakefulness-promoting and concentration-enhancing effects of the drug. Students, military special forces, creatives, and business executives often use it to get more efficiency out of their study sessions or work days.

Few people are aware of the stronger version of this highly-regarded productivity enhancer— Armodafinil

Among the options available for armodafinil, Artvigil is one of the most common.

Here we discuss the uses of Artvigil, its limitations, and how it compares to other drugs in its class.

Modafinil vs. Armodafinil, What’s the Difference?

How many active ingredients are contained in modafinil? Depending on who you ask, you may get a slightly different answer.

A doctor might tell you that there is just one active constituent, modafinil! And this would be correct.

Ask a chemist, and they might tell you that there are two active ingredients, S-modafinil, and R-modafinil. They would also be correct.

How can there be two different answers to this question? How many are there?

The best way to understand this is to think about your two hands. Each one looks identical to the other, and have virtually the same functionality. Despite their similarities, they are also direct opposites of each other.

If asked to line your thumbs over top of each other, one hand is forced to flip upside down to do it. This is the same thing that happens with chemicals.

So in basic terms, there is only one modafinil chemical structure, but there are also both right and left-handed versions of it. We call these “enantiomers.”

Taking this into consideration, we can now discuss how modafinil and armodafinil are different from each other.

While modafinil has both the right-handed (R-modafinil) and left-handed (S-modafinil) versions of the drug, armodafinil only contains pure R-modafinil.

Although very similar, the effects of pure R-modafinil in products like Artvigil, are noticeably different than products containing both enantiomers (such as Modalert or Modvigil).

Why is Artvigil so Popular?

Artvigil is the cheapest form of armodafinil around, without sacrificing quality. This is the main reason for its popularity.

On average, Artivigil costs users 10% less than the main generic competitor, Waklert (by Sun Pharmaceuticals).

Both Arvigil and Waklert contain the same dose of armodafinil, at 150 mg per tablet, but there are some differences in their potency (see number 3 further down).

HAB Pharma Has a Good Reputation

HAB Pharmaceuticals is well-known worldwide despite operating primarily out of India.

The reason for this is that they decided to focus on contract manufacturing since their inception in 1980.

This means that there are a lot of other supplement and pharmaceutical products sold by other companies that are produced by HAB Pharmaceuticals labs. Companies will essentially pay HAB Pharmaceuticals to produce their medications for them, which they then market under their own brand.

It’s unknown how many drugs and supplements are actually made by HAB Pharmaceuticals. We know that they’re well-known in this space, however, which is a good indication of their reputation in the industry.

The company has an incredible team of scientists and lab technicians working for them who have a great deal of experience making pharmaceuticals. There is no reason a company like this would sacrifice the reputation they’ve built themselves on by producing sub-par medications.

It’s Not as Stimulating as Waklert or Nuvigil®

To many, this is a negative point. However, a lot of people find Waklert and other versions of armodafinil too stimulating. It can end up working against you, making you feel anxious and (ironically) less productive.

If you’re looking for a boost in cognition and find Waklert too strong, Artvigil is a good option.

That said, if you want something as strong as possible, Artvigil is probably not the best choice for you.

Where to Buy Artvigil

There are many online vendors selling Artvigil. Unfortunately, many of them are low quality, and some are even complete scams. Online modafinil and armodafinil vendors are notorious for poor customer service, long delivery times, and questionable business practices.

For this reason, we always try to recommend sources that we use and have found to be reliable, and affordable. Our current favourite source for Artvigil is AfinilExpress.com.

Patent Wars: Nuvigil® vs. Artvigil

Nuvigil® is the brand name version of pure R-modafinil produced by Cephalon Inc. They were the original manufacturers of the drug after they purchased the French research company that invented it, Lafon Labs.

Cephalon Inc paid 450 million dollars to acquire Lafon Labs specifically so that they could secure the exclusive rights to sell their flagship product, Provigil® (modafinil).

Along with modafinil, Cephalon Inc was able to produce the pure (enantiopure) R-modafinil, which they call Nuvigil®.

Cephalon Inc was the exclusive manufacturer of the drug for several years, collecting massive profits thanks to patent laws.

Several generic manufacturing companies, such as Actavis, and Sun Pharmaceuticals began challenging these patents in 2014, which they won, allowing other manufacturers to produce their own version of the drug.

This was a significant loss for Cephalon Inc, who still holds the patents for armodafinil until 2023.

Other Generic Versions of Armodafinil

  1. Acronite (by Consern Pharma) — India
  2. Armoda — ACI Pharmaceuticals (Symbiota), Bangladesh
  3. Armod — India (discontinued)
  4. Neoresotyl — Chile
  5. R-Modawake — India
  6. Waklert — (by Sun Pharma) India

What’s the Dose for Artvigil?

Artvigil is recommended by the manufacturer to be taken in doses of 150 mg per day (1 tablet). This is the standard dosage for armodafinil across the board, including both Nuvigil® and Waklert.

Exceeding 150 mg of armodafinil increases the chances of developing side effects.

Armodafinil has a longer half-life than modafinil, which means that it lasts longer in the body. Therefore, it’s recommended that only one dose of armodafinil is taken per day to avoid overstimulation in the evening when it’s time to go to sleep.

Some people are more sensitive to the effects of armodafinil and require a smaller dose. Artvigil makes this process simple by making their tablets with a crease down the center.

This makes it easy to split the pill into two identical 75 mg doses.

Does Artvigil Have Any Side-Effects?

Like any pharmaceutical medication, Artvigil has some side effects to watch out for.

Although most people experience very few side effects, on rare occasions, more severe side effects can result.

If side effects are encountered, depending on their severity, it’s recommended to either avoid taking Armodafinil or reduce the dose and frequency of the medication.

  • THE MAIN SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDE
    1. Headaches
    2. Dizziness
    3. Dry mouth
    4. Insomnia
    5. Nausea
    6. Euphoria
  • SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE
    1. Confusion
    2. Disorientation
    3. Anxiety
    4. Paranoia
    5. Skin Irritations
    6. Hallucinations
    7. Extreme thirst and dehydration
    8. Aggression
    9. Suicidal thoughts

Managing Side-Effects of Armodafinil

Some people report no side effects after a single use but experience a gradual onset of side effects after a week or more of repeated armodafinil usage.

This is due to the half-life of the medication.

A half-life is a common way of measuring the duration of effects a drug has in the body. It’s a measurement of how much time it takes for exactly half of the medication to be cleared from the body.

If a new dose is taken before the drug has completely cleared, the concentration will increase above the recommended level.

This measurement is then used to calculate how often a dose of a medication should be taken.

The half-life of Artvigil is reported to be around 13 hours [1]. This means that if a new dose is taken at the 13-hour mark, we will have approximately 1.5 times the normal dose in the body (the full new dose plus the 50% remaining on the last dose).

To avoid compounding the concentrations of the drug in the bloodstream, it’s important to avoid taking more than one per day and have breaks where no medication is taken to help the body eliminate buildups of the drug.

It’s usually recommended to take at least one day off per week and one week off per month of Artvigil.

Summary of Artvigil: Should I Buy Some?

Artvigil is the cheapest form of armodafinil but has slightly less potency when compared to Nuvigil® or Waklert.

It’s considered one of the best pharmaceutical nootropics for improving focus, concentration, mem

ory, and wakefulness. This makes it useful for anybody who needs to remain awake and vigilant.

This often includes students cramming for an exam, office workers trying to finish a tough project, writers and artists, as well as military special forces on long overnight missions.

We highly recommend Artivigil if you’re looking for a strong boost in productivity and don’t mind the possibility of having some minor side effects like insomnia.
